Friendship, Lunch & Learning Farmington Country Club April 22 11 a.m.
Join your Newcomers Club friends for a very special day celebrating spring on Tuesday, April 22 when Farmington Country Club will be in bloom. The social hour begins at 11 a.m. with a cash bar followed at noon by a delicious luncheon consisting of a spring soup, trio salad plate, selection of tempting cookies and brownies and coffee and tea. During this luncheon, the Newcomers Club will honor a couple ladies who have been club members for 20 years.
Following lunch, everyone will feast their eyes and imagination on amazing spring photography during a presentation by noted garden author Catriona Tudor Erler. What better way to recognize Earth Day than with the author of nine garden books and numerous articles for such publications as Better Homes, Sunset Books, Architectural Digest and Southern Accents. Ms. Erler is a popular garden lecturer in both the United States and England. As a guest expert on television and radio, she provides inspiration and practical help for successful creative gardening. During her talk entitled “Garden Accents: Decorating and Furnishing Your Garden,” she will discuss the concept of seeing a garden as a series of outdoor rooms with a focus on how to furnish and decorate those rooms. For instance, consider where is the dining room in your garden?
Cost of this luncheon is $24. Checks payable to “Newcomers Club” should be mailed to Newcomers Club of Greater Charlottesville, Monthly Luncheon, P.O. Box 5693, Charlottesville, VA 22905. Your check is your reservation. You are encouraged to send your check soon as this will be a popular venue. Farmington Country Club is the perfect setting for thinking “green.” For questions about ingredients or the menu, please contact the club directly (296-5661).
Reservation checks must be received by Wednesday, April 16th. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS! Cancellations after April 16 are NOT refundable.
The Newcomers Club is collecting donations for the Thomas Jefferson Food Bank. All those wishing to participate in this effort are asked to bring non-perishable food items to the luncheon.
