2008 Newcomers Club Spring Golf Outing

Meadowcreek Golf Course at Pen Park

 

 

The 2008 Spring Newcomers Club Golf Outing at Meadowcreek Golf Course is open to all Newcomers Club members, spouses and guests without regard to skill level.  Participation is limited to 24 players.  Early sign up is encouraged as there probably will be a waiting list.  You may arrange for your own playing partner(s).  Single players will be paired up.  Every player must register on his/her own.

 

Tee times will start at 8:50 a.m. sharp.  Players need to be at the course no later than 8:30 a.m.  The practice facility will open at 7:15 a.m., and the snack bar will be open for breakfast as well as mid- and post-round refreshments.  Lunch after golf is included in the registration fee.

 

The cost per person covers greens fees for 18 holes of golf, cart rental, prizes and lunch after golf in the clubhouse.  Your cancelled check is your receipt.  Note that reservation checks will not be deposited until a few days prior to the event.  You will be notified only if the outing is cancelled due to weather.  A rain date will be arranged, if necessary.  There is a difference in fees for members and non-members of the Meadowcreek Golf Course.

Text Box: A Day at the National Gallery of Art May 21 Over the last several years, many Newcomers Club members have requested a day at the National Gallery of Art to enjoy the permanent collection that resides at that institution. This day of art enjoyment has been scheduled for May 21st. Our Newcomers Club bus will depart at 7:30 a.m. from the Fashion Square Mall parking lot. The Starlight Express bus will be parked behind the Wachovia Bank where there is ample parking. Lunch will be on your own. Our bus will leave Washington, D.C. at 3:30 p.m. and arrive back in Charlottesville at approximately 6:30 p.m. Cost of the trip is $30 per person. As we must pay in advance for the bus, there will be no refunds after May 8th. Spouses and guests are welcome. Club members: check your April newsletter for further details and to register.

Newcomers Club End-of-Year Bash

Cocktail Party                                                       May 22            6 – 9 p.m.

 

Join your Newcomers Club friends on Thursday, May 22nd for an end-of-year Cocktail Party.  This gathering is the club’s final monthly event of the 2007 – 2008 year and takes the place of the May luncheon.  The grand dining room of the lovely and elegant Greencroft Club in Ivy is the site for the Cocktail Party.  Located just off Route 250 West, the Greencroft Club is easy to reach and has ample parking (575 Rodes Drive).

 

Nobody will leave hungry as the Newcomers Club Cocktail Party will feature a variety of plentiful, delicious hors d’oeuvres.  Also a full cash bar will be available throughout the evening.  Plus there will be fun door prizes.  The evening encourages mingling as all in attendance can meet up with old and new friends. 

 

Adhering to the principle “the more the merrier,” this End-of-Year Bash is open to all—so bring your spouse as well as guests.  Take this opportunity to enjoy Newcomers Club fun before we all go our separate ways for the summer!

 

Cost for the Cocktail Party is $33 per person.  Your check is your reservation and must be received by May 13th. 

 

Checks (payable to Newcomers Club) should be mailed to: Newcomers Club of Greater Charlottesville, Cocktail Party, P.O. Box 5693, Charlottesville 22905.  Please indicate “Cocktail Party” on the memo line of your check; and on a separate piece of paper, include the names of all attendees if you are bringing your spouse and/or guests.  Cancellations will NOT be refunded after May 13.  There will be no exceptions.

 

Directions to the Greencroft Club:  Take Route 250 West.  After passing the entrance to the Boar’s Head, travel 2.5 miles and make a left onto Rodes Drive.  Take the first left onto the Greencroft Club grounds.  The clubhouse will be directly ahead.
